Cammarata Castle
Via Roma - 92022 Cammarata

The origins of the castle date back to around 1141, when Cammarata was erected in what is now the north-east part of the town, in an elevated and strategic position. Subsequently, between 1384 and 1398 thanks to Bartolomeo of Aragona, there was restoration, with works of structural support and the building of several new forts. The following centuries saw the change of numerous owners, administrators and managers that gave the castle and the territory of Cammarata life. Although in the 80’s of last century there was consolidation building and restoration of ruins as well as the ridge below, today there are, in reality, little remains and parts incorporated in structures created later on of very different types.

The spaces of the tower (which is the best preserved part of the castle) are devoted to exhibitions.
