Castle Peralta Burgio was built in the twelfth century, the property passed first from Peralta, later to Cardona, and then to Gioeni, that, in the sixteenth century, made some changes by creating several openings.

The castle shows a rectangular floor plan of 20x12 meters, made of a single block. It is placed in a dominant position on a rocky natural defense isolating it from the surrounding area. Due to this very unique location, in the first half of the nineteenth century, the building was converted into a prison.

The interior of the ground floor is divided into three adjoining rooms that are repeated in the above floor, arriving at the last level in a single large room with an arched window.

In 1981, the Surveyors of Agrigento organized its restoration. It is currently owned by the City which uses it as an exhibition space.
