Cianciana is a small town located on a hill in a little less than 400 m. height from which you can also see the sea of Agrigento.
Historians date the name of this small town existence of an ancient Roman villa "Villa Chincana" built by some noble patrician from the distant Rome near the site where today insists the town, this thesis, confirmed by the discovery in the area of archaeological finds. Chincana later expanded to become a small village destined, however, to be destroyed in the fourteenth century. The true origins of the town are located but in the seventeenth century. probably in the year 1640 when the small town was re-founded by Don Diego Joppolo founder of a noble family by the name of St. Anthony of Cianciana and passed later in 1770 the fief of the Bonanno. Although the main economic resource of this small town has always been agriculture, thanks to the discovery of several mineral deposits of sulfur Cianciana was between the nineteenth and early twentieth century a period of great economic development and urban planning.
Orthogonal axes, formed by the Regina Elena and climb from Corso Vittorio Emanuele, stood the most representative buildings, on Corso Vittorio: the palace Joppa, the seventeenth century and, next, the Mother Church, the Assumption, the same century. Climb over the Regina Elena, is the Church of the Purgatory of the seventeenth century, and continuing, we reach the Church of St. Anthony, located at the southern end of the old country.
Nearby Cianciana there are many hiking trails, paths suggestive able to reconcile both experts and beginners. Throughout the district you can admire a variety of landscapes alternating, in a play of colors, woods and vineyards, olive and almond groves, citrus orchards and fields to cereal cultivation. In this area, lapped by the river Platani, you can enjoy the coolness of the forest, enjoying the scents of the Mediterranean.

Abyss Bissana. From Cianciana towards Cattolica Eraclea, you reach the district Bissana, the abyss named it, is a strange phenomenon volcanic / spa that is manifested on the surface with the classic small volcano.
Bosco Cavallo (Caves and Equipped Area). The wood horse born in the 60s. Initially the Department of Agriculture and Forests entrusted its management to private firms, then Departmental Inspectorate of Forestry of Agrigento. Necropolis Millaga. In places Millàga, not far from the house of the former fiefdom of a rocky ridge, is a necropolis which, due to illegal excavations, there is no certainty on the 'era of belonging. However, archaeological studies have uncovered artifacts from various eras: the remains of the prehistoric, but also traces of settlements dating back to Greek, ancient Roman and medieval.
